Defensible Space Clearing (100-Foot Fire Clearance)

What the Law Requires
California law requires 100 feet of defensible space around your home, or to your property line. Most of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties sits in high fire hazard zones, and inspectors work this area hard every spring. Fail, and you get a return visit. Keep failing, and it can mean fines.

Zone by Zone
Defensible space is three rings around your house, and each ring has its own job:
- Zone 0 (0 to 5 feet): the ember zone. Nothing that can burn against the house. No dry plants, no woodpile, no bark mulch against the siding.
- Zone 1 (5 to 30 feet): lean, clean, and green. Dead plants gone, tree limbs up off the ground, space between bushes.
- Zone 2 (30 to 100 feet): reduced fuel. Grass cut low, brush and low branches cleared out from under trees, breathing room between bushes.
How We Work
We walk your lot the same way an inspector would, mark what has to go, and give you one project price. Then we cut, clear, chip, and haul until the property passes. All of our cutting line and ground gear is plastic, so there's no spark risk, and we carry pressurized water on every job.
