Open Ground Grows Fuel

Every wet winter, your field grows a summer's worth of fire fuel. By June the grass dries out and turns tan, and one spark from a mower blade or a dragging chain is all it takes. Cutting your open ground every year isn't optional in the foothills. It's part of owning land here.

It also keeps you off the county's radar. Overgrown vacant lots are what weed abatement notices get written about. Cut before the letter shows up.

Machines handle the open ground. Where it gets steep, rocky, or tight, our crews finish it with string trimmers. You get one clean field, not a mowed middle with shaggy edges.

Timing and Booking

The best window is late spring, when growth has mostly stopped but before everything fully dries. That's also when everyone else calls, so spring dates go fast. We start booking field work in February. Once your field is cut, adding a fire break around the edges is cheap insurance. Got star thistle in the mix? We'll time the cut to hit it too.
